At Daven Primary school we are passionate about promoting inclusion for children with Special Educational Needs. We are a mainstream school however in addition to our mainstream Reception class we have an resource provision (RP) for children with SEND needs. Children in the RP all have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and require additional support to that typically available in mainstream classrooms. Our curriculum in this class is designed to support students in developing fundamental skills including language acquisition, listening and attention skills and sensory regulation. A typical day in the RP will include:
- Sensory circuits
- Calm time
- Attention autism bucket time
- Sensory stories and rhymes
- Outdoor play in our own dedicated area
Our aim is to create a calm, happy and structured environment in which children feel secure and can develop their skills. A major focus is teaching social communication, emotional regulation and sensory regulation in context as well as supporting fine and gross motor skills, play and social skills and provide enrichment activities which support the development of life skills.
