Welcome to the class page for our Alternative Provision class page
The vision of Daven Primary School is to empower our pupils to take on the world. Just like in the mainstream classes, we have the same vision for our in-school alternative provision. Our curriculum for this class is designed to support students in developing fundamental skills and knowledge in their long-term memory; however, these skills and knowledge pathways are tailored to support these pupils both academically and personally.
We are a mainstream primary school, with the additional facility of an alternative provision to support children. We use this space to support children with SEND. Most children with special educational needs will have their needs met in our mainstream classes. However, we also meet varying needs in the alternative provision.
The types of needs could be:
- Cognition and Learning
- Communication and Interaction
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health
- Sensory Needs
In the mornings, we support our pupils with cognition and learning by providing a bespoke curriculum to support these children in various ways, though lines of enquiry and quality texts. Then, in the afternoons, we set up different activities depending on the needs of pupils at the time. This could be forest school, ELSA, social skills, nurture-based activities, life-skills, fine-motor skills, sensory and Lego therapy.
