Welcome to Daven Nursery
Our vision is to empower children to take on the world with confidence. Just like the rest of our school, our values are to be brave, kind, and curious.
Our Nursery Class is ran, on a day-to-day basis, by a team of skilled and dedicated nursery practitioners - each bringing a wide range of expertise to meet the individual needs of every child. The strategic leadership and direction is overseen by Jenny Gosling, Headteacher, with support from our highly experienced Reception Class Teacher.
Children are encouraged to engage in a variety of stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences, which are designed to prepare them for school. These include speech and language activities, gross and fine-motor skills (including pencil control), group activities, and much more. We are committed to ensuring that every child gains the most from their nursery experience, helping to make their transition into their next phase of their learning journey smooth and joyful.
Our nursery class is set in a bright, open-plan space for children aged 2–4. The environment is thoughtfully arranged to promote learning through play, with areas including role play, small world, story area, block play, mark making, creative activities, and a mud kitchen, among others.
We don't need to venture far to explore wildlife as we have an exceptional forest school area on site, that our nursery pupils can access (as well as the indoor and outdoor provision). This corner of woodland provides time and space for children to appreciate the awe and wonder of the outdoors – they have the freedom to explore this space all year round, in all weathers. The forest school area develops life-long skills too; our children learn how to problem solve, be creative, work together and develop independence skills.
